Our History
We began as an ‘Early Planning for Retirement’ club, to help men and women prepare for one of the biggest changes in their life. We later changed our focus to post-retirement activities and in 1974 became Life Activities Club Whitehorse. We joined with other clubs in Victoria, so that we could learn from each other. This also gave us a united approach to councils and governments, so we could seek their support in improving the life of retired men and women as they aged. Our evolution has continued into the Whitehorse Activities Club to function as a standalone club focussed on the particular needs of our ever diversifying community.
Our Mission
As we retire, we lose some of the social contact we enjoyed in our working life. We can also face a reduction in activity. We know that it is important for our long-term health and well-being to remain active in mind and body. Our club offers many ways to help you do that. We cater for different tastes, different abilities, and different levels of mobility. Some of our activities are physical, for the body, and some are less so, for the mind.
Our Future
Our club is keen to grow, both in membership (currently 680+) and variety. We seek to match the activities we offer to the changing needs of our more diverse Whitehorse community, keeping up with its changing tastes and interests as it evolves. At Whitehorse Activities Club you can look forward to meeting people from many walks of life and many parts of the world.
